Upper Solu Hydro Electric Company
ICTC Group is presently developing two hydropower projects (23.5 MW Solu HEP and 2.8 MW Sisa Khola "A" HEP) which lie in the same vicinity. The projects are being executed through Upper Solu Hydro Electric Company (USHEC), an SPV with 80% ownership of ICTC Group Companies.
Solu HEP is a run-of-river (RoR) project located in Solukhumbu district of Sagarmatha Zone in eastern Nepal. It's license was awarded by the Nepalese Government through a competitive bidding process aimed at encouraging the private sector to contribute towards eradicating the energy crisis in the country. Developers were selected based on their financial capabilities, execution plans and their commitment towards attaining the license and completing the project, which ultimately had to reflect in their financial bid for the license. The Government on the other hand ensured it's commitment to these projects through provisions that ensured basic viability and smooth execution. Through this process, among the eight projects put out for bidding by the Government, ICTC Group was successful in attaining the license of Solu HEP. The project is expected to be commissioned towards the end of 2017.
Sisa Khola "A" is also a RoR project and lies in the same vicinity. The acquisition of the license for this project was a strategic step to enhance the attractiveness of the overall investment. This project is planned to be constructed on a fast-track basis so that the project gets commissioned within 2 years from the start of construction. The power generated from this plant shall be used for the construction power for Solu HEP and other projects in the pipeline within the same vicinity.
